Star Wars Update

So G went over the weekend. He said that there were 2 places where Madst might get upset. We will do the usual (or rather, I'm sure she will...she's good about self-censoring) & cover her eyes for those two bits. Yeah! I don't have to wait 3 years to see it! AND I get to see it on the big screen.

Hayden Christianson is perfect for the role of Anakin & then Vader. He plays that moody, angry, disenchanted character so well. What was that movie he was in a couple years ago...My Life as a House? or something like that? Same type of moody character. I can't wait to see how he plays Anakin gone bad. YeeHaaaaa!

my world, my way

Okay, for all the ripping on trustfunders & trustifarians while I lived in Boulder, deep down I wouldn't pass up the chance to be one. Would certainly make the pursuit of happiness a lot easier. Well, it would eliminate many of the distractions which come along w/ lack of $$. Or rather, the having to go out & earn the evil stuff. As the PA lottery advertisement used to run "gotta play to win". And I don't play, so I won't win -powerball, etc. I will have to be a good little worker bee instead & pay my respects to the man. Wait a minute here, we're discussing MY world. I AM the QUEEN BEE. Yunz are all the worker bees. Not me. hehehehe (she laughs diabolically)

What else? In my world, professional athletes & other entertainers would earn $ proportionate to their importance in the betterment of society. Teachers would be highly paid. Schools would have a higher allotment of the Federal budget. Much higher. Much much higher.

There would be hockey! NHL style. w/o the greed that ends in a nonexistent season & a Stanley Cup collecting dust instead of kisses.

Alright, alright, I've let you in on enough of my secrets already. Patience, my dear friends: You're still on a need to know level of security!! Hasta!

Oh & p.s. we have put in a counter-offer on the house which has been accepted by the sellers. The inspection went well too! A few minor things to be corrected. Soon to sign the papers & hand over the $ & get the keys. New rule that I've implemented: no one is to come to our house w/o boxes. I have never packed for 6 people b4...should be quite the learning experience!

my guilty pleasure pt zwei

I've been watching The Sopranos lately. On DVD. On loan from the library. (we have the best library, for a little local branch) Second season. Hilarious. I'm waiting impatiently for the library to get the 3rd season of Six Feet Under. Yeah, I know, I'm behind a few seasons. Good things come to those who wait?

My other t.v. confession: The Shield. Yes, tripe that it is, the script is cliche after cliche. Super humorous stuff, though. Who the hell thinks up this stuff? And the violence & sex is very risque. My weekly dose of shock treatment. And on regular t.v! Shocking, isn't it?!

And then CSI. The script is laughable. The hyper cool psuedo-technology is key. Ah if only real life were an imitation of art (or the weak facsimile thereof). There would be no need for shows like "Unsolved Mysteries". Crime could be reduced to a micro dimension of its current state. Criminals would know that they have zero chance of escaping justice b/c such crack detectives as those fine men & women from CSI would have the cases sorted out within a week. OMG, the technology!!!!!! And the court system would never fail to prosecute the right person & sentence them accordingly. Ah my dream world. I would be queen. Wait, I am queen...of my house.... So in my world, that is, I would be independently wealthy. And the nightly news would report good news & not advertise & aggrandize violence for the sake of making headlines & ratings. hmmm. to be continued....

my guilty pleasure

okay, so I don't necessarily watch zero television. Here I am tapping this out instead of watching the season finale of CSI...directed by Quentin, no less. The Madster got a little freaked out by the ants attacking Nick. She was fine until then, but the thought of the creepy crawlers pushed her to the brink of her heebeegeebee tolerance. Surprisingly, she usually enjoys CSI, solving the crimes, knows its not real, etc. No one but Quentin would blow someone up on t.v. & then have someone eaten alive by ants. Damn & now here I am in Snick's room keeping Madst company.

Then I went & made the mistake of telling Madster that I wouldn't watch the new Star Wars w/o her...even if it's for 3 years!!! What was I thinking?!?! I am faced w/ the dilemma of either telling the little white lie & going anyway & pretending I know nothing. Or just not seeing it on the big screen. Grrrrr. Understandably this would have to be the darkest of the most recent episodes. There has to be that edge that Darth Vader falls over into complete surrender to the dark side. I'm sure that if George Lucas were to film the earlier three installments in the 21st century, they would all be quite a bit more violent than what they are. I mean, there just wasn't the technology, nor the desensitivity to violence, in the late 70's/early 80's. But damn those toy tie-ins. If the movie isn't for kids, then neither should there be toys to entice the same kids that can't go to the movie. How mean is that?!

Well, I won't make the same mistake w/ the new Batman. & omg, I hope upon hope that it's better than the 4th film. That one was so bad, I can't even remember the title. It was ridiculously silly. Then again, what did I expect w/ Arnold, Gov of Cali, as Mr Freeze. I remember the disappointment as the movie played on & it sucked so badly. Why the heck did I sacrifice sleep to see it @ the first midnight showing???? I have higher hopes for Christian Bale. Clooney was by far the worst. Yet, Michael Keaton left mighty big batshoes to fill for future would be batmen. I do believe Bale will be the hottest batman yet. Val Kilmer wasn't bad. But again, the technology has advanced so much even in the last 15 years or how ever long ago that was.

more t.v. whining

Well what about Brittney & her new husband's "newlywed" reality show?!? Can there possibly be an original thought in Hollywood? Obviously not. The tube is littered w/ these ridiculous "reality" shows. I can't get away from them. As if my life isn't interesting enough. I should watch someone else's daily humdrum.

Perhaps the little dramas on the box make my life look pretty darn easy. Then again, I'm not hanging out @ the clubs anymore. Where else will I be able to make fun of 21 year olds & their trivial tribulations. I just don't understand the attraction. No wonder obesity is such a national health crisis. People sit around watching someone else do the living instead of getting out there & interacting themselves. You know, instead of playing football, they watch it instead. Like that.

And Fear Factor. What is that? There is something inherently wrong w/ a program geared toward an audience who gets off on watching someone eating worms (or pig's blood, or giant cock roaches); watching someone being buried in tarantulas; watching someone dig for the next clue in a barrel of fish guts using only his or her mouth. Or rather there is something inherently wrong w/ that population that enjoys watching such things. And the fact that there is such a program is beyond me.

Anyone?

IMHO

Who the heck really cares to see Rob & Amber get married on t.v.? I personally think they should never have been given a spot on The Amazing Race. Garrett points out that they haven't won the big money in the end. I say that they took up a spot that someone else could've had trying to win. I mean, they did both have a shot on Survivor b4. Okay, so it's not like I watch these programs but I saw a commercial last night while @ the laundromat. It's not brain surgery, but does anyone else care to post an opinion?

this morning...

So I kind of woke up this morning to the DD2 & friend whispering about what to do while everyone was sleeping & why weren't the teenagers up yet (guess they don't yet know that teenagers sleep w/ a different internal clock & 7am is not a normal waking hour lol). Then I heard the teenagers talking (I can only imagine it was b/c the 1st graders's wouldn't let them sleep much longer). DD4 woke next & someone (in the teen years) must have gotten her out of her crib. Then DD3 woke up & was whisked into the living room by DD1's friend D. I couldn't sleep much longer than that myself. I think I finally did wake around 8 to the tune of the new Wiggly Wiggly World dvd. There were so many voices & so much energy in the house. It was very exciting. In fact, it made my day! I was reminded of when we lived in Family Housing @ CU & DD1 would have lots of friends over & neighborhood kids would visit, etc etc etc. I really miss having all that energy in our house. Not that we have a lack of energy here or anything. It was just really cool to be around. Everybody hanging out together & chatting. Clamboring for breakfast. Even the little spats b/t the two first graders was okay. Hopefully, when school's out & we've moved (or b4 then, even) we'll be able to have the girls' friends over again. I do really enjoy having lots of kids around :)

sleepover 5.13.05 -teenagers & toddlers & 7 yr olds playing scattergories jr. toddlers just want to be near the action.
