day 14: the long drive home

We left for CO on the Monday afternoon...it was a late start; I was dreading the drive -it's always longer going home- and I had to pack for everyone then load up the car. The OH turnpike was easy going & we made good time despite the construction. IN was a bit boring to drive through but very short. Serious traffic around the Chicago area, even as late as midnight. We finally stopped for the night just inside IA...you know, the must_keep-going_to_make_good_time mentality.

brutal sunset, driving west at dusk. Thank you big sister for sharing your shades. Notice the headphones? Thank goodness for DVD players with 2 headphone connections
We stopped here for dinner in IL. We'd never been before. It was tasty & -I'm sure- oh so fatty.

and they use Heinz ketchup.
Some of us were happy to be here...

some of us were not
