concert on the green

The picnic started @ 5:30 with recorded music playing in the background. Then the 4th & 5th grade bands played. Then the 4th & 5th graders sang. Followed by the 2nd & 3rd graders who sang "Billy Boy" (the old hand clapping song), "Limbo Rock", "The Addams Family" theme song, and "Locomotion". The 1st graders & kinders performed last. This was by far my favorite concert on the green in 4 years. Not too hot, not too chilly. The sound was good -better than usual. The grass has grown in (a couple years ago, it was sparse grass & a lot of dirt to sit on -probably that drought year). I did wonder, though, if they were singing along with recorded music, like a "kidz bop" type recording b/c it did sound so good it was almost perfect.

Well, Fi starts ECE in the fall; Lib the following year. We'll have another 8 years of this event. Last night a long time family @ this school said their good-byes after 11 years. I think we'll have them beat (if we stay that long) @ 12 years. Yikes! I'm looking forward to the time when the little girls are both in school & I can actually volunteer in a more active role @ the school than I've been able to do thus far.
